Support — Houston Pollen and Mold
Need help with Houston Pollen and Mold? Most questions are answered below. If not, contact us — details are at the bottom of this page.
How to use the app
- Open it for today’s read. The app opens to the current Houston-area pollen and mold levels, with a simple low / moderate / high indicator.
- Check each type. See tree, grass, and weed pollen plus mold spores broken out, so you know what’s driving a high day.
- Look back. Recent days are shown so you can see whether levels are rising or easing.
Alerts
- Opt-in. Alerts are off until you turn them on in the app’s settings.
- What you’ll get. A notification when Houston pollen or mold is running high, or when new counts are published — your choice in settings.
- Not getting them? Check that notifications are allowed for Houston Pollen and Mold in your device settings, and that alerts are enabled in the app.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the counts come from?
From the City of Houston Health Department’s pollen and mold counts (houstonhealth.org/services/pollen-mold). Numbers are shown as published. The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Houston or the Houston Health Department.
How often are they updated?
The app refreshes whenever new counts are reported (counts are typically reported on business days). Pull to refresh any time.
Why is there no count for today?
Reporting isn’t always daily — counts may not be published on weekends or holidays. The app shows the most recent available reading until a new one is posted.
Does the app use my location?
No. Houston Pollen and Mold covers the Houston metro area only and does not request or track your device location.
Do you collect my data?
No accounts and no sign-up. A few things to know:
- Ads: the app is ad-supported (Google AdMob), so our ad provider collects a device advertising identifier to show and measure ads — you’re asked for consent first, and you can opt out of personalized ads (iOS: the App Tracking Transparency prompt; Android: your device ad settings).
- Alerts: if you turn alerts on, the app sends a push token and your alert preferences to our server so we can notify you. They’re deleted when you turn alerts off (or after about 120 days of inactivity).
- Symptom tracker: anything you log in the Congestion & Sneezing tracker stays on your device — we never receive it.
