How to use the app

  • Browse series. Swipe from the left edge to open the quick-jump menu. Every series is grouped by category — tap one to jump straight to its detail view.
  • Switch chart views. Open a series and use its settings to choose the seasonal compressed view (this year vs a 3 / 5 / 10-year min–max envelope) or the raw timeline (full continuous history).
  • Compare prior years. Turn on the dotted prior-year overlays to compare today against any specific past year, color-coded with a legend.
  • Per-series overrides. Changing one card’s view doesn’t affect the others.

Notifications

  • Notifications are off by default. Turn them on in Settings → “Notify me when EIA publishes new data.”
  • When on, you’ll get at most two short alerts a week — one for crude (Wednesday) and one for natural gas (Thursday), within minutes of each EIA release.
  • Not getting them? Check that notifications are allowed for EIA Inventories in your device’s system settings, and that the in-app toggle is on.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the data come from?

Straight from the EIA Open Data API (the U.S. Energy Information Administration). Numbers are shown as published, with no adjustments. The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the EIA.

How often is it updated?

Within hours of each weekly EIA release — the Weekly Petroleum Status Report (Wednesdays) and the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report (Thursdays). Pull down to refresh any time.

Why does a value look different from somewhere else?

We display EIA’s figures verbatim. Differences usually come from comparing different series, units, or revisions. Tap a series for its full history and definition.

Do you collect my data?

No accounts, no ads, no third-party trackers. See the privacy policy for the full detail. (Settings are stored only on your device.)

The app won’t load data — what do I do?

Check your internet connection and pull to refresh. The app briefly works offline from its local cache; if EIA’s API is down, fresh numbers may be delayed. If it persists, report it below.
